BIOGRAPHY

Ron Dzwonkowski is the editor of the editorial page of the Detroit Free Press. He has held that position since June 1998. In addition to supervising editorial content and political endorsements, Ron writes a column that appears in the Sunday On Point section. Prior to the editorial page assignment, Ron was the newspaper's editor for politics, polling and special projects. Ron joined the Free Press in May 1983 as a reporter in the newspaper's state capital bureau. He also has been an editor for metro coverage and the daily Michigan assignment editor. Ron started in journalism doing radio news. He joined The Associated Press as a broadcast writer in 1976 and became the Lansing correspondent for the news service in 1979. Ron is vice president of the Michigan Press Association, a member of the Society of Professional Journalists and in 2007 was elected to the board of the National Conference of Editorial Writers. Born in 1951, Ron is a native of Cleveland. He has lived in Michigan since 1968 and is a graduate of Wayne State University in Detroit. Ron and his wife Shelley have two adult daughters.
