NLGJA Excellence in Journalism Awards
The National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association's (NLGJA) Excellence in Journalism Awards recognize outstanding coverage of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) issues in the following print, broadcast, online and photojournalism categories:
Journalist of the Year Award
Sarah Pettit Memorial Award for Excellence in LGBT Media Excellence in News Writing Award Excellence in Feature Writing Award Excellence in Writing Award Opinion/Editorial NLGJA/Seigenthaler Excellence in Network Television Award NLGJA/Seigenthaler Excellence in Local Television Award NLGJA/Seigenthaler Excellence in Radio Award NLGJA/RTNDA Excellence in Online Journalism Award Excellence in Photojournalism Award Excellence in HIV/AIDS Coverage Award Excellence in Student Journalism Award
There is a $500 cash award and trophy for first place in all categories except the Sarah Pettit Memorial Award for Excellence in LGBT Media and the Excellence in Student Journalism Award. First place in these categories receives $1,000.
Entries must be postmarked by June 15, and initial publication/broadcast must have occurred between June 1, 2006 and May 31, 2007.
Winners will be notified and announced by August 2007. Recognition will take place as part of NLGJA's 2007 National Convention & 4th Annual LGBT Media Summit, to be held August 30-September 2, 2007 in San Diego.
