BIOGRAPHY

Marjorie Arons-Barron is president of Barron Associates Worldwide, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in communications strategies, including public affairs and reputation management, executive coaching and media training.

Arons-Barron is well known throughout Massachusetts and in New England for her long and distinguished career as editorial director at WCVB-TV, Channel 5, Boston's ABC affiliate. From 1979 through 1998, she also produced and often hosted Five on Five, for many years the nation's longest running, locally produced public affairs discussion program. In the 1980's, she also produced the station's political candidate forums. She still appears as a commentator on local broadcast and cable stations.

She has been honored with numerous awards, including three New England Emmy Awards and, for five consecutive years, the National Award for Excellence in Television Editorials from the National Broadcast Editorial Association. She received numerous Editorial Excellence awards from Associated Press, United Press International, the Massachusetts Broadcasters Association and others.

Prior to working at Channel 5, Arons-Barron was an associate producer of PBS Television's The Advocates, a national political affairs writer for The Boston Phoenix, a reporter for WGBH-TV's Ten O'Clock News and political editor of The Newton Times. After retiring from Channel 5, Arons-Barron directed media communications at BankBoston with responsibility for the bank's businesses in North and South America.

Arons-Barron is an overseer emerita of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, a former board member of The Boston Club (the region's largest association of senior women executives and professionals), and a former president of the National Broadcast Editorial Association. She has been involved with NCEW since the very first joint NBEA/NCEW meeting in Washington, D.C. in 1984.

An honors graduate of Wellesley College, she is married to James Barron, an attorney and consultant. They have two grown children and five grandchildren.
