BIOGRAPHY

Kate Riley, Seattle Times editorial writer, has worked on editorial pages for a decade after several years as a farm and business reporter. Before joining the Times in 2002, she was editorial page editor at the Tri-City Herald in Southeastern Washington. She has parlayed her experience working in rural Washington to a beat that includes writing about urban-rural tensions. She also follows higher education and energy. She is the recipient of the 2005 Pulliam Award.
