BIOGRAPHY

Robyn Blumner is a columnist and editorial writer at the St. Petersburg Times in Florida. Before turning to journalism, she was a public interest advocate with the American Civil Liberties Union.

 

Robyn graduated from Cornell University in 1982 and New York University School of Law in 1985.  After passing the New York State Bar, she worked as a labor negotiator for a branch of the New York City Transit Authority and in the evenings volunteered with the American Civil Liberties Union's Reproductive Freedom Project in New York.

 

In 1987 she moved to Salt Lake City, Utah to become executive director of the ACLU of Utah. And in 1989 she moved to Florida to take over the organization's offices there.  

 

Her columns are syndicated by Tribune Media Services and appear in newspapers across the country.
