"It's elegant, useful and fun."
"...an excellent book. The articles make the reader think, even if he doesn't agree with everything in them -- which is, after all, the mark of a good editorial."
That's what readers are saying about Beyond Argument.

Charticle, Fort Worth Star-Telegram
We tried something different this morning: a graphic/chart for our lead editorial on Bush's first veto. A .pdf of the page is attached.
On Tuesday morning we ran a traditional editorial urging that funding be expanded and pointing out the benefits of such research (and the foolishness of the 9 p.m. Aug. 9, 2001 cutoff that determines which embryos were game and which weren’t). Our post-veto follow-up was the charticle, a by-the-numbers look at vetoes and frozen embryos. (Closing bits: 63, number of senators who did the right thing. 0, number of presidents who did.)
There was some in-house resistance (to the format, not the content) from some with more traditional tastes: "Why can’t we do this in a strongly worded editorial?" And, in our incredibly conservative market, those concerns are valid.
