Kiplinger Program in Public Affairs Journalism

KIPLINGER PROGRAM IN PUBLIC AFFAIRS JOURNALISM
The John Glenn Institute for Public Service and Public Policy
The Ohio State University

The Kiplinger Program is dedicated to giving mid-career journalists the support and time they need to produce meaningful work and deepen their knowledge of public affairs issues so they can better inform citizens and contribute to public life. Fellows have six months to work on a public affairs project of their choice and have access to a rich array of classes at The Ohio State University. They work in modern, private offices at The John Glenn Institute for Public Service and Public Policy for the six-month program, which runs from January through June. Upon completion of the program, they receive a Certificate in Public Affairs Journalism. The program offers a $20,000 stipend plus excellent benefits, including tuition for up to 10 hours of coursework per quarter.

Applications must be received by July 20, 2006. Among other requirements, applicants must: (1) have at least five years of journalism experience; (2) develop a proposal for an independent work of public affairs journalism; and (3) submit a brief autobiography, resume and work samples.
