Fulbright Scholar Beginning Professional Journalism Awards

The Fulbright Scholar Program is offering up to 9 awards for experienced journalists, editors and writers during the 2008-09 academic year to carry out research, teaching or combined teaching/research activities abroad.  Awards are available to print and broadcast journalists who work for media organizations or journalism faculty in higher education.  Projects may be carried out in Algeria, Bangladesh(editing and writing), Egypt, India(environmental journalism), Israel, Maldives, Pakistan, Syria or the West Bank.  Fulbright teaching awards are in English in most areas, though French is required in Algeria.

Participants will have the opportunity to interact with professional colleagues and faculty in higher education in any one of several regions.  A multi-country research program is also available for any two or more countries in North Africa, the Middle East, South or Central Asia.

Awards range from two months to an academic year.
