"It's elegant, useful and fun."
"...an excellent book. The articles make the reader think, even if he doesn't agree with everything in them -- which is, after all, the mark of a good editorial."
That's what readers are saying about Beyond Argument.

Barry Bingham Sr. Fellowship Award
National Conference of Editorial Writers annually grants a Barry Bingham Sr. Fellowship -- actually an award -- "in recognition of an educator's outstanding efforts to encourage minority students in the field of journalism." The educator should be at the college or university level.
Since 2000, an honorarium of $1,000 has been awarded the recipient, to be used to "further work in progress or begin a new project."
Bruce DePyssler, Associate Professor of English and Mass Communication at North Carolina Central University, is the recipient of the 2009 Barry Bingham Sr. Fellowship. The award, given in recognition of an educator's outstanding efforts to encourage minority students in the field of journalism, will be presented at the National Conference of Editorial Writers (NCEW) annual convention in Salt Lake City, Utah, which will be held September 23-26, 2009.
