Student Membership
NCEW has created a low-price membership category for college students.
Student membership in the National Convention of Editorial Writers is open to college students enrolled in a recognized journalism program, or studying opinion writing, or handling opinion-writing functions at their school papers or radio station, or who otherwise can demonstrate an interest in opinion writing.
Student membership is nonvoting, but students will be eligible for most NCEW activities: the annual convention and regional conferences, the critiques and mentoring programs, the Job Bank, and so on. They'll also receive the Masthead magazine, NCEW's top-notch quarterly journal filled with all the latest debates on the hot issues affecting opinion writing. Plus the NCEW newsletter, with timely updates throughout the year on NCEW activities. Plus a steady stream of other messages by way of NCEW's online mailing list.
Student members in NCEW may not hold office in the organization, and are bound by their membership terms to resign when they no longer meet the requirements.
The cost of a student membership is $25 per year. For a membership application, contact NCEW headquarters at 3899 N. Front St., Harrisburg, PA 17110 TEL: (717) 703-3015 FAX: (717) 703-3014 EMAIL: ncew@pa-news.org or download the attached student application PDF file.
