Beyond Argument
"What a great book. I'm already inspired."
"It's elegant, useful and fun."
"...an excellent book. The articles make the reader think, even if he doesn't agree with everything in them -- which is, after all, the mark of a good editorial."
That's what readers are saying about Beyond Argument.

Opinion Pool
This year's convention in Little Rock will showcase The Opinion Pool, an NCEW project to develop online templates for opinion pages that invite community participation while maintaining journalistic values.
Researchers will present results of focus-group discussions of opinion-page readers, as well as broader research on non-readers. NCEW members at pilot-site papers will display their work, explaining what succeeded and what did not.
Let your publishers/editors know that you will return from the convention with innovative yet practical ideas on how to improve online content as well as how to better connect citizens with the newspaper or broadcast outlet.
The Sept. 17-20 convention, "Newest South, Newest America," has many other attractions, such as a tour and dinner at The Clinton Library; a visit to Central High School, the site of an historic desegregation battle ; a spouse tour to Hot Springs and many professional-development workshops.
Only dues-paying members can attend the convention, which always provides ideas for better ways to do the job. With the Opinion Pool information, this convention is an especially sound investment.
